This is a gorgeous cup from Beyer & Boch. This is a handleless cup, and it is beautifully hand painted with a colorful floral design. It also has a gilded design around the top and bottom. There is some wear on the gold, and the discoloration on the bottom edge (see photo) and one small dark spot on the inside. Otherwise this is in very nice condition.
The cup measures 2 3/4 inches tall and 3 inches wide at the top. This cup has a stamped mark on the bottom, (the crown on top of a shield, with a "B" inside the shield). This is the Beyer & Boch mark. Beyer & Boch produced fine ceramics from 1890 - 1960. They were located in Germany. Also present is a decorator's mark in blue - a crown with a cross on top. Above the Beyer & Boch mark is 3 digit number, also stamped into the porcelain. I can't quite make it out, but I think it is 683 or 663.
I have been told that this cup dates to 1890. After 1891, the origin of the item would have been stamped on the bottom.
